El Camino Real Bridge & Road Construction
The contractor working for Clear Lake City Water Authority is currently in the process of relocating the existing utilities off of the El Camino Real bridge. This work is scheduled to last until May 1. The contractor will have the north bound lanes shut down and traffic diverted onto the southbound lane throughout the duration of the utility relocations.
On or about May 1, TXDOT will begin reconstruction of the El Camino Real bridge. This project is scheduled to last approximately 4 months to September 1, 2011. TXDOT will have the entire bridge closed in all directions throughout the duration of this construction.
At about the same time frame as TXDOT, Harris County will begin their street improvement project on El Camino Real between Bay Area Boulevard and NASA Parkway on or about May 1, 2011. This project is slated for approximately 10 to 12 month and includes some utility relocations, utility improvements, new concrete streets, new left turn lanes and new 5-foot sidewalks on both sides of the street.
People should plan to use alternate routes and expect delays in this area until all construction has been completed
